Mala fama! Dat betekent zoiets als ‘slechte reputatie'.. Felipe Garcia is één van de beruchte wijnmakers die de Chileense carignan uit de obscuriteit wil halen en op een podium wil zetten. Hij heeft nog wel een beetje plankenkoorts, daarom wordt hij bijgestaan door een beetje carmenère.
Robert Parker (92/100): "There is a new red blend of 85% Carignan from Maule and 15% Carmenere (from Itata) called 2016 Mala Fama. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in neutral barrels for 26 months. The grapes come from the same place in Piedra Lisa that is also the source for Grenache, Mourvèdre and Petit Verdot. It's quite ripe at 14.5% alcohol, with notes of ripe fruit, Mediterranean, but it has good freshness with the touch of Carmenere. This is an unusual blend that seems to work quite well. It's powerful but at the same time easy and pleasant to drink, with a base of the same grapes as the Vigno. 13,359 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2020."
