Robert Parker (97/100): "Tasted in June 2021 as a tank sample that is ready for bottling, the 2020 Ried Klaus Weissenkirchen Riesling Smaragd is a generous and concentrated grand cru that opens with a dense and aromatic but also stony/mineral and enormously flinty bouquet that reminds me a bit of the Forster Kirchenstück in the Pfalz yet has characteristic sugared/candied lime and lemon aromas. Full-bodied and fresh, with crystalline acidity, this is a highly complex, iodine-laced and tensioned Klaus with an amazingly fresh and aromatic finish. The wine will be available in September but should be cellared at least for 12 years. Even more important: Buy enough, because this will go for decades. 14% alcohol. Tasted at the domain in June 2021."
