Fonterenza Brunello di Montalcino 2016

Margherita and Francesca Padovani The estate’s farmhouse gets its name from the “fonte”, S. Angelo in Colle’s best water source. The estate was set up by twin sisters in 1997. Margherita and Francesca Padovani grew up in Milan but the farmhouse has been in the family since the 1970’s. They purchased 40 hectares of land, mostly in the Montalcino area and planted the first sangiovese vines in 1999, spreading up to 4 hectares in 2005. They decided from the start not to use any chemical in their vineyard. This led to biodynamic farming and later to a non-interventionist approach to the winemaking.
