Created in 1965, this structure did not stand out from other volume-based coopérative of the region. Jean-Francois Nick was the first one to establish an individual cuvée policy, which translates the work and the typicity of each grower’s land in 1995. In 1997-1998, they shifted to a natural and ethical approach to winegrowing and winemaking and this was followed by immediate success on the export-market. Denis Deschamp, the winemaker now in charge of the ten vignerons and their domaine continues to work with this approach: No external yeasts, no filtration, no fining, no enzymes, no SO2 on the grapes at harvest (or during the vinification), only a little bit for bottling. They are also part of a group promoting “reasoned agriculture” in the region, pushing for minimal use of chemicals in the vineyards. This is greatly helped by the dry and windy climate. Democratic Vin Naturel!
This is a natural wine without added yeasts and with very little, or no added sulphites. This leads to wines with great purity of fruit but might also lead to more outspoken aromas. Beware that this style might be different from what you are used to when drinking conventional wines.
